The Long Harbour

Documentary · 2022

Overview

A role that stayed with everyone who saw it

A fifty-two-minute documentary about the fishing harbour where Adriana grew up — told through the voices of the people who work its tides. Adriana narrates and appears on screen as guide, returning to the quays of her childhood.

Audience Choice at Greyport Doc Days, the film was later adopted by schools across the region as a portrait of coastal working life.

The role

“This is my harbour, my people. I didn’t act a single frame — I just walked home with a camera beside me.”

Narration was recorded on location at 5 a.m. among the boats, gulls and winches included. Adriana interviewed twelve harbour workers herself; three of those conversations made the final cut untouched.
